Our Pet Doctors veterinary pracitce comprises our main veterinary hospital in Newport which is the Isle of Wight’s only purpose built 24-hour veterinary hospital. We also have branch surgeries in Ryde and Lake and a small consultation clinic in Cowes. Everyone who works within the Pet Doctors Isle of Wight group is very proud of the facilities we have to offer.
The original partners set up the practice in St Johns Road, Newport with small consultation branches in Ryde, Lake and Cowes. Due to expansion and a passion to provide excellent veterinary care, they set about building Riverbank Veterinary Hospital which was completed and opened in 1998.
Over the years there have been new faces but some of the original staff have remained with the company. In 2006, the partnership decided that it was time for semi-retirement and sought to pass the clinic on to the next phase in its life where we were taken over by Pet Doctors, a group of 28 clinics across the south coast. The clinic continued to grow under its new umbrella and in 2008 we took over the Lawns Veterinary Group in Ryde and closed our smaller Riverbank, Ryde branch. This allowed us to offer a much more comprehensive level of care to our clients in the Ryde area.
In 2011, we moved our Lake branch into a larger clinic again, allowing us to offer our clients a full service including operations, radiography and dentistry, to name a few.
The year 2011 was a busy period as Pet Doctors sold the business to CVS and although we became part of a bigger company, CVS has allowed the team on the Isle of Wight to continue to run the clinics in the same manner. Our passion and dedication to deliver high quality service and the best possible care for your pets is at the core of everything we do.
Pet Doctors Isle of Wight is constantly investing in professional development for our veterinary and nursing team so we can offer the latest technologies and techniques to our patients. We are the only Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) accredited Veterinary Hospital on the island and offer 24-hour nursing care, seven days a week to support your pet through a wide and varied list of treatments.
We are also a RCVS accredited nurse training centre and are dedicated in supporting and progressing our nurses through the qualification so we can offer our clients many additional services, including a comprehensive range of nurse led clinics as well as excellent care for our inpatients during their surgery and after care.
